Renaissance Hotel Johor Bahru — clean, quiet, and easy with a car

Checked in 14 Aug 2026 for 4 days / 3 nights at Renaissance Hotel JB in Permas Jaya — clean property, free parking, and a short drive into town.

This was a short Johor Bahru stay at Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel (Marriott’s Renaissance brand) at No. 2, Jalan Permas 11, Bandar Baru Permas Jaya. First impression walking into the lobby: big cylindrical glass chandelier, dark marble floors, palms, and seating that actually looked cared for. The whole place feels clean and very well maintained.

Room and views

The room was neat on arrival — white linens tucked tight, desk with an office chair by the window, TV wall unit, and that blue-beige carpet that still looked fresh. Above the headboard, a yellow hibiscus painting adds a bit of colour without clutter.

From the window you look straight down onto the outdoor pool and out across Permas / JB — landed houses, green patches, and the city haze. One evening the sunset sat low on the horizon while the pool lights came up; nice quiet view after a day out.

Free parking

Free parking at the property — useful for a JB trip where you’re driving most places anyway. No hunting for street spots or mall tickets just to leave the car overnight.

Location — not central, but workable

Location may not be ideal if you want to walk to nightlife or the older city centre. You’re in Permas Jaya, so expect about a 10–15 minute drive to most of the usual spots — malls, food, CIQ side of town, and so on. With a car it’s fine; without one you’d lean on Grab a lot.

Verdict

Overall I’m pretty pleased with Renaissance Hotel JB. Clean rooms, maintained common areas, free parking, and a calm base for a few nights. Trade-off is the drive into town — for this 4D3N that was acceptable.
